A bunch of friends, some of whom have never met, from all over North America and beyond, getting together in our jammies to talk about books and eat chocolate.

Coming Up Next: Sandcastle Girls
I'm checking Sandcastle Girls back out from my local library, or I think it should be available in paperback now.
This is a great book anyway, but it is particularly interesting to me because my husband's grandparents escaped the Armenian Genocide in 1915, when they were teenagers. Most of their families perished.
This is a fictional story, but it is reasonably accurate historically. There was a lot of contemporaneous news coverage of the genocide in the West. It is estimated that 1.5 million were killed. Those who escaped often settled in areas with other Armenians -- there was/is a pretty large Armenian population in Fresno, CA, where my husband's grandparents ended up.
It is said that Hitler's genocide against Jews and others was inspired by the ruthless success of the Armenian genocide.
Looking forward to it! Re-reading it now!
